Islay

It's the busy season at my restaurant and yesterday was a zoo. VIPs and all sorts of people coming in from every direction. Pairings up the wazoo and I had to be in all places at once. We held it together, even when people couldn't decide what they wanted... tasting super slow. Drink already.

Blythe from Naughty Kitchen came to eat and loved everything. She's fun. Brian Grazer and Kofi Annan didn't drink. From my perspective things are looking up in our economy.

After a half bottle of Corton Charlamagne, a guest had a Lagavulin 16 neat and asked about Laphroaig and if they go beyond the 10-year. Lagavulin has a 21, 25 and a 30-year. Laphroaig has 15, 18, 25, 27, 30 and 40-year. Both are Islay... more later gotta go to work.

music for brunch

Brunch in Williamsburg... Diner was great for brunch over the weekend and the good music helped the fun time. Which is better for music with eggs? Egg vs. Diner? Best to hit Egg during mid-week, I hate waiting around for a table. Roommates said Diner dinner was awesome. The bloodies had the best pickled beans ever. No wine, finished with Fernet.

It was a great Sunday biking around W-burg, beergarden, nap in the park, then the bikes were ripped off. Where is the Fernet?

holiday weekend

Alecia Keys was in the house last night. She's beautiful and sweet, and loves the red wine.

A friend reminded me it took me 5 years before I got to a good place in my last career, I'm at year 4 with this one. So I'm going to use that as my motivation.

Sorry lady guest on Thursday night, no we do not have a calorie count on the Chef's tasting menu.

who moved my cheese?

Party of 4 wants to share a half bottle... just one half bottle, that's it? Really?

The grass at the SF Giants ballpark looks like poo, what's up? Is it some sort of "going green" project. It was the grass that made me fall in love with baseball... And the hoping for a Giants parade.

What is the thinking behind firing Tia from Casallula? I'm going to call it CasaCrazy. I always liked it for a late night spot, cheese with Rioja Blanco. Now what am I going to do. It's all up from here Tia.

My other late night spot, Momofuku Ssam, is so different now, all corporate feeling and shit. Cookbook then Vegas? Are they at MGM or Circus Circus?
